Mark 30 essays
in the time it takes to mark 3.
Upload your rubric once. Share a link with your class, or batch-upload student files yourself. MarkMate marks every response against your criteria, with detailed feedback, AI detection, and export tools.
Two Ways to Use MarkMate
Let your students check their own work, or upload their files and mark them yourself.
Share a Link with Your Class
- 1. Upload your task notification with rubric. Takes under a minute
- 2. Copy the student link and share it via Google Classroom, email, or your LMS
- 3. Students check their own drafts: paste text, upload a file, or photograph handwriting
- 4. You see every submission on your dashboard with grades, feedback, and AI detection
Best for: formative feedback before final submission
Batch Upload Student Files
- 1. Go to Mark Work and select your assignment
- 2. Upload up to 30 Word or PDF files at once
- 3. Watch the live progress bar as each student is marked
- 4. See grades and AI risk for every student. Export as CSV or download individual PDFs
Best for: marking a class set quickly
What You Get
Marks against every rubric criterion
Each criterion in your rubric is scored individually with specific feedback. Not a single grade, but a full breakdown showing where students are meeting the standard and where they're falling short.
AI detection on every submission
A private integrity report for each student, with four risk categories (language patterns, content red flags, style inconsistency, common AI phrases) and supporting evidence. Low, Medium, or High risk. Never shown to students.
Cross-student similarity checking
Automatically flags students who have submitted suspiciously similar work. Runs locally, no API call, instant results. Findings appear in the AI detection report.
Annotated student work
Strengths highlighted in green, areas for improvement in orange, directly on the student's text. Each annotation has a click-to-expand explanation. Students see this too, so they know exactly what to fix.
Cohort summary
AI-generated class analysis for any assignment: data summary and instructional recommendations. Toggle between anonymous and named views. Export as CSV or download as a PDF for your records.
Batch marking with live progress
Upload up to 30 files and watch the progress bar as each student is marked. See grades and AI risk appearing in real time, no more staring at a loading screen for minutes.
CSV and PDF exports
Download all grades and feedback as a spreadsheet, or generate individual branded PDF feedback reports for each student. Perfect for records, parent-teacher interviews, or faculty reporting.
Handwriting recognition
Students can photograph their handwritten work and get it marked. Google Cloud Vision reads the handwriting, the student verifies the text, then it's marked against the rubric like any other submission.
Subject-Specific Feedback, Not Generic AI
MarkMate knows the difference between a History essay and a Science report. Each subject has its own checks, built around the NSW NESA syllabus for each course. Outcomes, content descriptors, and rubric language match the syllabus your faculty already uses.

Rolling out to your faculty
How do I roll this out to my faculty?+
Most faculties start with one teacher trialling for a term. We'll set you up with extended free access during the trial. After that, individual teacher subscriptions or a department licence — whichever fits how your school buys software.
Will it work with our LMS?+
Yes. Share student links via Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, or any system that takes a URL. Export grades as CSV for upload to Sentral or your school's LMS. Individual feedback PDFs export per student for reporting.
What about EAL/D and learning support students?+
The feedback adapts to the student's actual writing level — it identifies what the student has done before showing what to fix, which is the same approach an experienced teacher takes. Handwriting recognition supports students who write better than they type. Site is built to WCAG 2.1 AA, see our Compliance & Safety page for full accessibility detail.
What does our IT team need to approve this?+
Hosted in Sydney. AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.2+ in transit. Australian Privacy Act 1988 compliant. Student data is never used to train AI. Full technical detail and DPO-ready documentation on the Compliance & Safety page.
